The founders started roasting coffee in a shop in a provincial New Zealand surf town. Founded by three coffee enthusiasts, with former World Barista champion Gwilym Davies, this is the place to be for die-hard coffee lovers. The cafe is also home to the London Barista Resource and Training Centre, to initiate professional people with an urge to make high-quality coffee.

The owners of this local bakery and café, wife and husband, have met each other while working at the same restaurant. After having worked at several restaurants, they started their first store in Soho. A small store with an all-day dining room on the ground floor and a bakery in the basement. Over the years there have been many pop-ups of the store around London. Now, the bakery is an industrial unit in Brixton, serving many high-end cafes and restaurants in London. The new cafe is located in their home area of Balham.
This all-day restaurant is a place where you already should go for the interior alone. With the interior being so beautiful, it is no surprise that their coffees and dishes are gorgeous too. What really stands out here are the coffee-cocktails in the evening. This is a place with great coffees during the day, espresso martinis at night, and meals that go from eggs and juice in the morning to steak frites and sharing plates in the evening.

Founded by award-winning cake designer, author, and Creative Director Peggy Porschen, this is the place to be if you are looking for the most gorgeous cakes in town. known for magnificent designs that are not only visually stunning but also taste delicious, Peggy acquired a client list including many celebrities, Royals, and members of high society. Her cakes were on many A-list events such as the 2011 wedding of Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, Stella McCartney’s wedding, and parties for Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. The shop serves freshly baked cupcakes, cookies, and layer cakes as well as a selection of Peggy’s own blend teas. You will recognize this shop immediately with its entrance that is as gorgeous as the cakes inside.
Science Afternoon tea at the Ampersand Hotel
They got inspired for their Science Afternoon tea by their neighbor, the Science Museum. Their goal is to experiment with sounds and visuals to make their food an interactive experience. With their unique concept, they won Best Themed Afternoon Tea at the Afternoon Tea Awards 2018. The food is served with coffee, tea, and if you like, also champagne.
